Zirconia Crowns
Zirconia is the strongest ceramic used in dentistry. Modern multi-layer discs add translucency at the incisal edge, so a monolithic crown no longer looks opaque — which means the strength can be used in the smile zone as well as at the back.
Patients who fracture porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, or who grind heavily, need a material that resists chipping. Monolithic zirconia has no veneering layer to break away.
Benefits
- No metal core and no grey margin at the gum
- Highest fracture resistance of the ceramic options
- Biocompatible and kind to opposing enamel when polished
- Thinner preparation than metal-ceramic requires
- Multi-layer discs give natural translucency
The procedure
- 01 Preparation planned to the minimum thickness zirconia needs
- 02 Digital scan and shade photography
- 03 Temporary crown fitted
- 04 Milling, sintering and staining in the laboratory
- 05 Try-in, occlusal check and cementation
Technology
Multi-layer zirconia discs, five-axis milling, high-temperature sintering and polished occlusal surfaces.
Aftercare
Zirconia does not stain, but the gum margin still needs daily flossing. If you grind, a night guard protects the opposing teeth rather than the crown.

In our patients’ words
What convinced me was the mock-up. I walked around with the trial teeth for two days before anything was cut, and I could change the shape twice. The final result is exactly what I approved, not a surprise.

I had worn an upper denture for eleven years. The provisional bridge went in the same afternoon as the surgery. Six months later I ate a steak for the first time since 2013.

I live in Moscow and flew in twice in fourteen months. Everything else was photographs through the app. Dr Volkova replied to my questions herself, not through an assistant.
