After upper molars are lost, the sinus expands downwards and leaves too little bone for an implant. A sinus lift raises the membrane and places graft material beneath it, restoring height without entering the sinus cavity itself.
Upper back teeth generate the highest chewing forces but sit in the softest bone. Without adequate height an implant cannot be placed at all, which is why patients are often told the area is untreatable.

Aftercare
For two weeks: no nose blowing, no flying, sneeze with your mouth open and avoid straws. Pressure changes are what displace a fresh graft.
